A few years ago I was at a wedding when the officiant asked if anyone had just cause why this couple cannot be lawfully joined together. My spirit from the depths of my soul lept and cried out.
I might have embellished some minor details there, I actually wasn’t at a wedding, I was listening to a sermon/message. A wedding disaster sounds so much more juicy and full of intrigue haha! The sermon was about keeping God in a box and how that was a good thing. Besides my spirit jolting and pretty much the entire history of the world contradicting it, I’m sure it sounded great. Everyone sat and listened and quickly proceeded to choose a place for lunch and went on their merry way.
Rewind with me a couple thousand years.
Strap on your sandals, gird your loins ( in for comedic affect) and pick up your sword because you are a warrior. A fighter. You’re part of an army. YOU are a soldier. You see, Not a lot of truck driving jobs, Burger King flipping or hedge fund managing going on at this time. You’re identity is rugged and you follow this fella name Joshua. It turns out Joshua just had an interesting conversation with God where he told Joshua “look sharp now, I’ve already given Jericho to you.” Now Jericho is this big city with big walls, the titanic of all walls, “the unbreakable wall” even (insert trump joke here) But we’re soldiers, we have weapons, plans and strategy. LETS DO THIS!
In this moment I’d like to propose that you and I being soldiers and straight up killas from the east side, that our first choice wouldn’t be to lay down our weapons and pick up a trumpet, to march around ….theeesse city wallsss 🎵. I think sometimes God tells us about our victory but then has us step out of our comfort zone, our self proclaimed identity or our pretty little box we have for him in order to receive that victory.
This blog has nothing to do with the original sermon and everything to do with how amazing, creative and loving the father is. The way maker. the miracle worker. I can never go back to “normal” for I’ve seen too much.
Sometimes when contending for breakthrough and really needing to bring down some walls, we need to lay down our own comfort and what we think we’re gifted in, what we think it should look like and pick up whatever he’s saying. The Father isn’t limited in partnering with us because the world labels us an introvert or an extrovert.
A good friend once said “my offering must become more than my comfort zone”
Join me in listening for our Fathers voice, responding by picking up his weapon of choice and reaping the harvest of his faithfulness. Someone’s breakthrough tomorrow might be waiting on our response to his voice today.
Thanks for reading a part of my heart, I might even do it again sometime

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
